§ Sir Ian GilmourAccording to figures published by the European Commission, approximately 72,000 United Kingdom citizens were employed in other European Community countries at different periods between 1975 and 1979. These figures, however, exclude those working in the Irish Republic, for which information was not available, and Greece, which was not then a member State. No information is available on the total number of British nationals providing services or on the setting up of businesses in other European Community countries.
