Mr. Jim Callaghanasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many primary and secondary schools in the Greater Manchester county are recognised as being below the minimum acceptable standard laid down by his Department; and whether he intends making additional financial provision to overcome this problem.
§ Dr. BoysonMinimum standards for school premises are currently prescribed in the standards for school premises regulations 1972. The Department requires as a condition of approval of all building projects a certificate of compliance with the regulations. It does not, however, monitor existing schools and the information requested is therefore not available.
