HC Deb 18 June 1981 vol 6 cc439-40W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many young people are unemployed in (a) Wolverhampton and (b) the West Midlands; how many in each case have been unemployed for over a year; and what are the comparable figures for May 1979.

Mr. Peter Morrison

The numbers registered as unemployed are analysed by age and duration in January, April, July and October. Following is the information for April 1979 and April 1981:

Disabled or infirm people who although available for work have difficulty or suffer discomfort in attending an unemployment benefit office can claim by post regardless of age.
