HC Deb 18 June 1981 vol 6 c403W
Mr. McQuarrie

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many drivers were prosecuted for driving without insurance in 1978, 1979 and 1980.

Mr. Mayhew

[pursuant to his reply, 11 June 1981, c. 185]: Information for England and Wales relates to the numbers of prosecutions for offences of using a motor vehicle uninsured against third party risks; the figures in 1978 and 1979 were 154,800 and 163,300 respectively. I understand from my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland that the corresponding figures for Scotland were 14,600 and 13,700 respectively. Figures for 1980 are not yet available.
