HC Deb 18 June 1981 vol 6 cc430-1W
19. Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will give the current weekly production figures for the De Lorean car factory in West Belfast.

Mr. Adam Butler

As I said during the Adjournment debate on 11 June—[Vol. 6, c. 641]—I understand from the company that cars are being produced at a rate of about 130 per week.

Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many petrol bomb attacks have taken place against the De Lorean Car Company; and in each case what damage was done, what the financial consequences were and whether the perpetrators were identified in each case.

Mr. Adam Butler

The only serious incident was described in my reply of 22 May to my hon. Friend the Member for Petersfield (Mr. Mates)—[Vol. 5, c. 185.]

In addition, 10 other incidents, spread over 16 subsequent days, caused minor damage to property. All of these incidents have contributed to singnificant disruption of production and shipment schedules. I understand that the perpetrators have not yet been identified.
