Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how much coal and steel per head of the population of Wales is produced in Wales; and what percentage of United Kingdom production in coal, steel, iron, crude steel and tin-plate, respectively, is produced in Wales.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

The production in Wales of coal and crude steel per head of the population was 2.8 tonnes, and 1.1 tonnes, respectively in 1980. The other information is given in the table below:
