Mr. Colvin

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if his Department has completed inquiries into the incident involving a Boeing 707, Reg. No. 9Q CRY, at Lulsgate airport in October 1979.

Mr. Eyre

The accidents investigation branch of my Department carried out a field inquiry over a period of several months into the causes of this incident, obtaining information from Kuwait, India and Zaire as well as the United Kingdom. An AIB bulletin was published in January 1980 which contained a summary of the facts established in the course of the inquiry.

The Civil Aviation Authority is carrrying out a separate investigation into possible infringements of the air navigation order. This investigation is not as yet complete.
