§ Mr. RifkindDecisions about the Glasgow-Ayr railway are for Strathclyde regional council and its passenger transport executive, which is responsible for support of the service. Following a meeting between my right hon. Friend and representatives of the council, we are well aware of the particular difficulties which they face before taking a decision on the Ayr electrification proposal. We are therefore considering sympathetically whether we can help in solving these difficulties.
