HC Deb 17 June 1981 vol 6 c377W
Mr. Squire

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when he will publish the final report of the London advisory group; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Vaughan

The London advisory group was set up just over a year ago to help us in tackling some of the major issues facing the Health Service in London. It has produced some valuable reports on these problems and brought them to the point at which decisions can be taken.

In its final report, the group has reviewed a number of outstanding issues—primary health care, the planning of non-acute services, nurse recruitment and training, regional health authority structure and the need for continuing liaison between the main authorities in London. We have been pleased to accept the group's advice on these matters and will be pursuing them as appropriate.

With the publication of the final report, the group has completed its task and has now been disbanded. I am most grateful to the group for the valuable work it has undertaken.

Copies of the report have been placed in the Library and are available to hon. Members in the Vote Office.
