HC Deb 17 June 1981 vol 6 c368W
Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he has altered his estimates of the current year's revenue accruing from excise duties on beer, wine and spirits, respectively, in view of the reductions in demand; what are his latest estimates of these excise duty revenues for 1981–82; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Rees

The Budget estimates have not been altered. For the estimates of receipts in 1981–82 from the individual excise duties, I refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Bradford, South (Mr. Torney) on 1 April.—[Vol. 2, c.97–98.]—These Budget estimates are based on an economic forecast that takes account of the probable strength of consumer demand and of consumer prices.
