asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement about the future of Witcham primary school.

The statutory period following the publication of the Cambridgeshire local education authority's proposals to close this school does not expire until 28 June, and thereafter the authority must provide my right hon. and learned Friend by 28 July with copies of all the objections made and its observations on them. In accordance with section 12(4) of the Education Act 1980 the proposals then fall to my right hon. and learned Friend to decide.
