HC Deb 16 June 1981 vol 6 cc306-7W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the latest position regarding the proposed reorganisation of the Health and Safety Inspectorate; what consultations have been carried out; how many employee organisations agree with the proposals; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waddington

There have been no further developments since my reply to the hon. Member on 21 May 1981.—[Vol. 5, c. 143.]

The director-general of the Health and Safety Executive has had informal discussions with senior representatives of the CBI and TUC, Government Departments and individual employer and employee organisations. Their views will he taken into account as part of the consultative process; firm decisions on implementation will not be taken until formal discussions between management and staff representatives in the Health and Safety Executive have been concluded.
