HC Deb 16 June 1981 vol 6 c350W
Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the financial allocation given to the Development Board for Rural Wales for the years 1981–82, 1982–83 and 1983–84; what proportion of the allocation for each year will be allocated for spending (a) in new towns and (b) outside new towns; and what proportion of its allocation is proposed to be allocated to its social development fund.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

The board's cash allocation for 1981–82, excluding receipts, is £8,858,000. Around £5 million relates to expenditure in Newtown and £334,000 of the balance is available for social development grants. The boards planned provision for the years 1982–83 and 1983–84 is indicated in the public expenditure White Paper, Cmnd 8175.
