§ Mr. John Moore[pursuant to his reply, 5 June 1981, c. 430]: The calculations were carried out for a well-heated semi-detached house having a total window area equal to 20 per cent. of the total vertical surface area, which could be regarded as typical; the living room temperature during occupied hours was assumed to be 20 degrees C; the figures given are generally consistent with the living room being heated on average for roughly half a day on each day during the heating season.
