HC Deb 12 June 1981 vol 6 c215W
Mr. Maclennan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the statutory powers he has to advise the valuation authorities on the conduct of their responsibilities and to satisfy himself that their statutory functions are being properly carried out.

Mr. Younger

My only power to intervene in the exercise by valuation authorities of their statutory functions arises from section 1(7) of the Valuation and Rating (Scotland) Act 1956 which requires that my consent be given to the dismissal of an assessor.
