HC Deb 11 June 1981 vol 6 c195W
Dr. Summerskill

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what has been the result of the consideration by the Armed Forces Pay Review Body of a change in the X-factor component of the pay of Service women due to the fact that members of the Women's Royal Army Corps and Women's Royal Air Force are being trained in the use of arms.

Mr. Goodhart

The Armed Forces Pay Review Body has announced in its 1981 report—Cmnd. 8241, paragraph 42—that it will be examining in the next review whether a differential between the X-factor for Service men and Service women continues to be appropriate. This will take account of the arming of women as well as any other relevant factors.
