§ Mr. MayhewMy right hon. Friend informed the House on 31 October 1979 that the Government accepted and would implement the recommendations of the May committee—Cmnd. 7673—for increased pay scales for prison governors. Apart from last year's central pay settlement, a further pay award has since been made to assistant prison governors reflecting developments in the prison service since the May committee reported.
