HC Deb 10 June 1981 vol 6 c124W
Mr. George Cunningham

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what consultation takes place with the authorities of the House before arrangements are made to close streets near the Palace of Westminster or conduct processions through Parliament Square on the occasion of State visits to London.

Mr. Pym

A copy of regulations issued by the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis relating to closed streets on the occasion of State visits is sent to the Serjeant at Arms. The arrangements for such visits follow a set pattern and an extract of the regulations is published in the all-party Whip, letting Members know that details of closed streets may be obtained from the Serjeant at Arms' office. The authorities of the House would expect to be consulted if there were to be any variations in the arrangements.
