§ 32. Mr. Bruce-Gardyneasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the current annual cost to public funds of the Property Services Agency; what are the numbers employed; and whether he is satisfied with the agency's employment of public funds.
§ Mr. HeseltineThe net cost to public funds of running the Property Services Agency, excluding PSA Supplies, this year is estimated to be £307.1 million. The total United Kingdom-based staff of the agency on 1 May was 33,165, including 2,975 whose costs are borne on the Supplies trading fund. I believe the agency gives good value for money, but I shall continue to seek improvements.
§ Mr. Wardasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will set out in the Official Report (a) the number of qualified engineers employed by the Property Services Agency in each of the last 10 years, (b) how many private firms of consulting engineers were allocated work by the Property Services Agency in each of the last 10 years, and the value in real terms of such work and (c) the value, in real terms, of the construction of new, and the alteration of existing, works carried out by the Property Services Agency in each of the last 10 years.
§ Mr. Geoffrey FinsbergInformation is not available in the detail for which my hon. Friend asks. I shall write to him as soon as possible with such information as can be provided without disproportionate cost.
