HC Deb 10 June 1981 vol 6 c124W
Mr. Scott

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what considerations led to the replacement of the copying machines in the Norman Shaw South building with one new and two reconditioned machines; and whether the mechanical condition of the machine so installed on the fourth floor of that building has proved to be satisfactory.

Mr. Pym

The previous model of copying machine which was provided on three floors in Norman Shaw South had become obsolescent and this led to the decision to have the three machines replaced. The new machines provide additional facilities, which have been widely welcomed, and are extremely cost effective given the current high usage.

My hon. Friend will be aware that the machine on the fourth floor has been troublesome, but it will be changed in the near future if it continues to prove unsatisfactory. I am assured that the company concerned is keeping a very close watch on the situation.
