Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) what is the total of unemployed in the Liverpool travel-to-work area at the latest available date: what the figures were in May 1979; and what percentage these figures represent;

(2) what were the unemployment (a) figures and (b) percentage for Merseyside special development area at the latest available date; and what they were in May 1979.

Following is the information:

inclusive is 173. There were 13,590 workers involved in those closures, out of a total of 41,310 redundancies notified as due to occur.

Note: These figures include provisional data for April and May 1981.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) how many job vacancies there were in the Merseyside special development area at the latest date; and what the figure was in May 1979;

(2) how many job vacancies there were in the Liverpool travel-to-work area at the latest date; and how many there were in May 1979.
