HC Deb 10 June 1981 vol 6 c125W
Mr. Renton

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what percentage of total central Government expenditure the United Kingdom's net contributions to the EEC represents.

Mr. Lawson

[pursuant to his reply, 8 June 1981, c. 16]: In 1981–82 the United Kingdom's net contribution to the European Community budget, after taking account of the negotiated refunds in respect to the United Kingdom's net contribution, is estimated to be about three-quarters of 1 per cent. of total Government expenditure. This is equivalent to about 5 per cent. of the forecast PSBR for the year.
