HC Deb 10 June 1981 vol 6 c147W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list all payments made, and recipients to the most recent practicable date in respect of claims from individuals and organisations for expenses arising from the incomplete inquiry into the proposed Aire Valley motorway.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

46 objectors—individuals or organisations—have indicated their intention to submit claims for expenses arising from their attendance at the Aire Valley trunk road inquiry which was abandoned in 1976. 22 have so far claimed and payments totalling £1,810.50 have been made to 18 of them. Four claims are still under consideration and the remaining 24 have yet to submit their claims. I shall let the hon. Member know the eventual total when it is available and give him a breakdown of it; but I am reluctant to publish details of payments to specific individuals as these could relate to their loss of earnings, expenses and other personal claims.
