§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many real job vacancies there were for those aged under 19 years in Wythenshawe at the latest date, divided between those registered at careers office and jobcentre.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonAt 8 May there were 124 vacancies remaining unfilled at the employment office and two at the careers office in Wythenshawe. Vacancies are not normally notified for precise ages and no age analysis is made. The statistics relate only to vacancies notified to employment offices and careers offices; vacancies notified to employment offices are estimated to be about one-third of all vacancies in the country as a whole. The number of vacancies unfilled on a particular date takes no account of the flow of vacancies being notified, filled or withdrawn during the preceding month, which may reflect activity more closely.
§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many youth opportunities programme vacancies there were (a) in Manchester and (b) in Wythenshawe at the latest date.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonAt the beginning of May there were 947 places available on the youth opportunities programme in Manchester local authority district, which includes Wythenshawe.
§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) how many employers he estimates there to be in Wythenshawe; how many have (a) fewer than five, (b) between five and 20 and (c) over 20 employees; and how many employers operate a youth opportunities programme scheme;
(2) if he will provide separate statistics for the careers office and for the jobcentre in Wythenshawe of the numbers of young people aged under 19 years (a) known to have entered real jobs in the past year, (b) placed on the youth opportunities programme in the last 12 months, (c) on the youth opportunities programme at the latest date and (d) unemployed at the latest date, providing a breakdown of periods of unemployment: (i) less than six months, (ii) six to 12 months and (iii) over 12 months.
