14. Dr. M. S. Miller

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what percentage of the total cost of the pharmaceutical services scheme has been recouped by the imposition of higher prescription charges since the charge was increased in July 1979.

Dr. Vaughan

In the year ended 31 March 1980, 4.9 per cent. of the cost of pharmaceutical services in England was recovered by way of charges; it is estimated that in the year ended 31 March 1981 this will have increased to about 7 per cent.

34. Mr. R. C. Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many prescriptions were dispensed in England during the years 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979 and 1980.
