HC Deb 08 June 1981 vol 6 cc4-5W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Prime Minister if Her Majesty's Government will seek to obtain the results of the detailed reassessment of the effects of the atomic weapons dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 undertaken by laboratories in the United States of America recently; if she will initiate a similar study in the United Kingdom; and if she will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

Action has been taken to follow up the reports which have been received on the reassessment of the radio-biological effects of the atomic weapons detonated at Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 and consideration is being given to whether any useful studies could be carried out by United Kingdom organisations.
