HC Deb 08 June 1981 vol 6 c27W
Mr. Porter

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will take steps to assist those workers affected by the proposal of Burmah Castrol Ltd. to close its refinery at Ellesmere Port with the resultant loss of 1,500 jobs.

Mr. Peter Morrison

The employment and training services of Manpower Services Commission will be made available to all those who wish to take advantage of them. The commission's local officials are in close touch with the employer. Arrangements have already been made to provide workers with details of the MSC's services and, subject to the agreement of all concerned, the commission hopes to set up a mini-jobcentre on the firm's premises.
