§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Wales whether his Department has undertaken any investigations into the effect of sparsity of population on the cost of provision of health services for the purposes of distribution of financial resources to the various area health authorities in Wales; and what are the conclusions of any such study.
§ Mr. Wyn RobertsA research study into the effects of sparsity on the costs of providing health services in rural areas of Wales is being commissioned from the medical sociology research centre at University College, Swansea. It will commence shortly and will take two years to complete.
