§ 23. Mr. Kenneth Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the staff reductions achieved in road construction units as a result of the transfer of work to consultants in the private sector.
§ Mr. FowlerI have just announced the names of more consultants to take over the work and staff of road construction sub-units. I expect to complete these appointments by the end of the summer. The transfer of work and staff will then take place during the autumn, and after that the sub-units will be closed down.
