§ Mr. Giles ShawA number of representations have been received from different sectors concerned with responsible dog ownership. There are about 100 local authorities that operate dog warden schemes. Where nuisance from stray dogs occurs, it is dealt with by use of police powers, sometimes with the assistance of animal welfare organisations, and in some cases by local authorities using general powers or local legislation.
