§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report on the reasons why the assistant commissioner of police of the Metropolis took until 13 May (Ref. No. TF 167/79/483 (BI)) to send a formal acknowledgement of the letter of the hon. Member for Newham, North-West of 24 April, which contained only the information that the letter's contents had been noted; what action has been or is to be taken on the matters raised; when a full reply will be sent; and whether he will arrange for such letters to be replied to more promptly.
