asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when the non-householder's housing addition, paid with supplementary benefit, was introduced; and what has been its value each year since then.

The supplementary benefit non-householder's housing addition was introduced in 1966 at 10/- a week, and its value since then is set out below.

These amounts could be increased in certain circumstances. Prior to 24 November 1980, this was at the Supplementary Benefits Commission's discretion; since then, regulation 23(1)(b) of the Supplementary Benefit (Requirements) Regulations 1980 provides for a maximum payment of £4.60 a week.
