§ Mr. Austin Mitchellasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will publish in the Official Report a table showing the percentage increase since (a) the 12 months ended June 1973 and (b) the fourth quarter of 1976 in (i) the index of relative normal unit labour costs and (ii) his estimate, based on the latest exchange rate, of the change in relative export prices.
§ Mr. ParkinsonI have been asked to reply.
Up to the fourth quarter of 1980—the latest quarter for which data are available—the index of relative normal unit labour costs increased by 58 per cent. on the average for the year ending June 1973, and by 74 per cent. on the fourth quarter of 1976. Over the same periods, relative export prices increased by 32 per cent. and 45 per cent. respectively.
