§ Mr. Dubsasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many speech therapists are employed by education authorities in England and Wales; in which types of schools they work; and how many are concerned mainly with deaf or hard-of-hearing children.
§ Dr. BoysonNone. Since 1974 speech therapists have been employed by area health authorities and the educational, hospital and community aspects of the service have become progressively more integrated. However, I understand that, in general, speech therapists dealing with children spend a substantial proportion of their time on educational matters.
