HC Deb 31 July 1981 vol 9 cc568-9W
Mr. Peter Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what increase or reduction is expected in the funds to be made available to the Queen's university of Belfast for the academic year 1981–82

Mr. John Fatten

[pursuant to his reply, 30 July 1981]: The recurrent grant to be paid by the Department of Education for Northern Ireland to Queen's university for the academic year 1981–82 will be £22.75 million compared with £21.48 million in the 1980–81 academic year. This means a cash increase in the funds of £1.27 million. This amount, recommended by the University Grants Committee, does not include provision for rates and certain other items which are subject to separate support. The equipment and furniture grant for the 1981–82 academic year will be £1.37 million as recommended by the University Grants Committee compared with £1.15 million in 1980–81—a cash increase of £0.22 million.
