HC Deb 31 July 1981 vol 9 c660W
Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many public service vehicle checkpoints have operated on the roads on the (a) west bank of the River Foyle and (b) the east bank of the River Foyle in Royal Ulster Constabulary Division N in each of the last three months; how many defective vehicles were detected in each month; how many vehicles were stopped; of the numbers in each case, how many were from the Republic of Ireland; and in each case how many prosecutions have resulted.

Mr. Alison

Neither the police nor the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland operate checkpoints specifically for the purpose of checking the roadworthiness of public service vehicles.
