asked the Chancellor of die Exchequer what is the assumed trend rate of growth of productivity in (a) manufacturing and (b) the whole economy less manufacturing and oil and gas; how these figures compare with earlier assumptions and with actual performance over the periods 1946 to 1951, 1951 to 196:1, 1964 to 1973 and 1973 to date; and how much of the increase in unit labour costs since the Government came to office is due to the fall in output below trend and how much to the increase in money wages.
