HC Deb 31 July 1981 vol 9 c546W
Mr. Knox

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the pupil to teacher ratio in primary schools in the area covered by the Leek parliamentary constituency; and how this compares with the figure for primary schools in England.

Dr. Boyson

The information requested is not readily available for areas smaller than local education authorities. In January 1980, the pupil-teacher ratio for qualified teachers within maintained primary schools in Staffordshire was 22.5:1; the comparable ratio for England was 22.7:1.
