HC Deb 31 July 1981 vol 9 cc623-4W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will set up a formal inquiry to determine whether the requirements of sections 15 (i) and 15 (ii) of the Copyright Act 1911 cause hardship to publishers of limited editions.

Mr. Eyre

The legal deposit provisions of section 15 of the Copyright Act 1911 are among the subjects discussed in the Government's recently published Green Paper on copyright—"Reform of the Law relating to Copyright, Designs and Performers' Protection—A Consultative Document", Cmnd. 8302. Since the object of the Green Paper is to open a broadly based public debate on all aspects of copyright, including legal deposit, no additional purpose would be served by a formal inquiry. Those wishing to make their views known to the Government should write in the first instance to the Industrial Property and Copyright Department, Department of Trade, 25 Southampton Buildings, London WC2A 1AY.
