HC Deb 31 July 1981 vol 9 cc578-9W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy when he expects the borrowing limit of £4,200 million set in the Coal Industry (Borrowing Powers) Order 1981 is likely to be fully expended; and what are the projects scheduled for absorbing the difference between the £3,000 million spent up to August 1981 and the new limit to be authorised.

Mr. John Moore

On present forecasts the borrowing limit of £4,200 million is likely to be reached around the middle of 1983. The new borrowings are required to finance the board's capital investment and an increase in coal stocks, and to cover other working capital needs.
