HC Deb 31 July 1981 vol 9 c606W
Mr. Dover

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he has reviewed the grant-in-aid payable to the Clothing Industry Productivity Resources Agency by his Department.

Mr. MacGregor

Yes. We have examined CIPRA's performance in the three years it has been operating and have noted its success in meeting the financial target it was set. We have concluded that CIPRA should continue to have access to the grant-in-aid up to the maximum of £450,000 originally agreed, subject to need and subject to the original time limit of five years. There can be no question of further grant-in-aid from the Government after that period. If current discussions on combining CIPRA' s activities with those of the clothing division of the Wool Industries Research Association reach a successful conclusion acceptable to the Government, any new organisation which as a result came into being would have access to the grant, subject to the same limits on timing and the amount.
