HC Deb 31 July 1981 vol 9 c655W
Mr. John Morris

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will ensure that those appointed to conduct inquiries into representations on the Boundary Commission's proposals for Wales will have a thorough knowledge of Wales and Welsh conditions.

Mr. Mayhew

At the request of the Boundary Commission for Wales, my right hon. Friend has already appointed 11 assistant commissioners to inquire into and report to the Commission upon representations about its provisional recommendations. All those appointed are barristers of the Wales and Chester circuit and at least two are understood to speak Welsh fluently.
