HC Deb 31 July 1981 vol 9 cc537-8W
Sir John Biggs-Davison

asked the Prime Minister if she will make a statement about the pay of medical and dental officers in the Armed Forces.

The Prime Minister

Following their earlier acceptance in full of the recommendations of the tenth report of the Armed Forces Pay Review Body, the Government have now decided to increase the pay of Service medical and dental officers by amounts averaging 7 per cent. from 1 April 1981 in accordance with recommendations contained in a supplementary report by the review body, which is published today as Cmnd 8322. Copies are available in the Vote Office. The pay of medical major-generals, which as I announced on 15 May would be decided in the light of the recommendations of the supplementary report, will also be increased by 7 per cent. from 1 April.
