HC Deb 31 July 1981 vol 9 cc586-7W
Mr. Body

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the estimated loss of revenue by way of rates for any one year as a result of (a) the derating of agricultural buildings and (b) the derating of agricultural land.

Mr. King

The information is not available in the form requested. It is estimated that if agricultural land and buildings were to be re-rated, around £200 million might be added to total rateable values in England and Wales. The revenue raised would depend on the rate poundages levied in the year in question.
