§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will publish a table showing for the years 1978–79, 1979–80 and 1980–81 the weighted average rate of return on capital employed by the Welsh Development Agency in manufacturing industry, in line with the guidelines issued by his Department announced in the Official Report, 3 August, 1978, Vol. 955, columns 661–63; whether he still expects the agency to achieve this target rate of return by the end of the financial year 1981–82 as originally stipulated; and, if not, what plans there are to vary the target rate of return.
§ Mr. Nicholas EdwardsThe Welsh Development Agency has, in accordance with its existing financial duties published the weighted average rate of return for all companies in which the agency has held or holds investments in its annual reports for 1978–79, 1979–80 and 1980–81.
As I told the hon. Member on 22 July the financial duties to be effective from 1 April 1981 are currently under review.—[Vol. 9, c. 148.]
