HC Deb 30 July 1981 vol 9 c530W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his assessment of the reasons why the number of new commissions in the construction industry in the Midlands fell by 6.2 per cent. in the first quarter of 1981 when the figure for Great Britain as a whole showed an increase of 22.1 per cent.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

The hon. Member is presumably referring to the results of the quarterly survey of new commissions for private architects carried out by the Royal Institute of British Architects. As this is an independent survey undertaken by members of the architectural profession for its own information, the hon. Member is advised to approach the institute directly for any further analysis or assessment of its findings.
