§ Mr. Robert Hughesasked the Attorney-General what steps he is to take to give legislative backing in the United Kingdom to Her Majesty's Government's signature of the Council of Europe convention on custody orders for children in United Kingdom courts; and what discussions he is having with other signatory Governments similarly to incorporate the convention into their domestic law.
The Solicitor-GeneralThe Government intend to initiate detailed studies on the question of implementing the Council of Europe convention on the recognition and enforcement of decisions concerning custody of children and on restoration of custody of children. There has recently been an exchange of views on the state of ratification of this convention in the European Committee on Legal Co-operation at Strasbourg.
