§ Sir George YoungThe hospital in-patient inquiry is an analysis for England and Wales of a sample of inpatient spells in NHS non-psychiatric hospitals, and is substantially derived from the hospital activity analysis systems run separately in each English NHS region, and in Wales. These information systems are at present under review by a joint NHS-DHSS steering group on health services information. No change to publication arrangements will be made pending decisions arising from that review.
