§ Mr. Soleyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will state the number of appeals lodged against decisions to make deportation orders under section 3(5)(b) of the Immigration Act 1971 during 1980 and to the latest convenient date in 1981; and of these how many have been (a) heard, (b) allowed, (c) dismissed and (d) withdrawn.
§ Mr. WhitelawThe following figures, which have been provided by the appellate authorities, show, for the periods in question, the number of appeals referred to them the total number of appeals disposed of, and of these the number allowed, dismissed and withdrawn. Some appeals may have been withdrawn without being heard. Some of the appeals disposed of during the periods in question will have been referred to the appellate authorities in an earlier period.
