HC Deb 22 July 1981 vol 9 cc161-2W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what proportion of registered disabled persons in Great Britain are of working age; and what is his estimate of the number of such persons.

Mr. Rossi

At 31 March 1980, the latest date for which figures are available, approximately one-third—325,000—of those registered as handicapped in the general classes, with local authorities in England and Wales, were aged 16–64.

Similar figures are not available for Scotland.
